shrug-l: How does one access .AVX files through ArcGIS

I have several AVX extensions that I downloaded to see if I could use them to create cross sections in ArcGIS.  The only problem is is that I don't know how to access these types of files through ArcGIS.  Never worked with extensions before.  Could someone please assist me in getting these files into ArcGIS?
