DESCRIPTION 
This position will assist in the managing and maintaining of Geographic
Information Systems (GIS) and Global Positioning Systems (GPS)
technology for the Florida Department of Health, Division of
Environmental Health.   The position is located at Department of Health
Headquarters offices in Tallahassee (Capital Circle Office Center at
Southwood).  Applicants must have a thorough working knowledge in at
least one of the following; geography, cartography, or GIS technology.
Preference will be given to applicants who have used GIS for health,
environmental, or preparedness activities, but this is not a requirement
to apply for the position.
EXAMPLES OF WORK 
This full-time position will be responsible for completing GIS and GPS
mapping projects as required.  Providing technical support to
Environmental Health and County Health department staff.   Researching
and evaluating GIS/GPS hardware and software in order to make
recommendations to the GIS manager.  Assist in training staff in the use
of GIS/GPS hardware and software.  Maintain base map data with relevant
documentation to support GIS analysis of statewide programs. Assist with
the development and maintenance of standards, policies, protocols, and
procedure for GIS/GPS technologies in support of statewide programs.
Designing and implementation of web-based GIS projects.  Additional
assignments may include application development, data loading and data
maintenance/posting, data conversion data integrity testing, and data
distribution.
