Dear Colleague,
As you may have known, IWMI will organize an International workshop on
Global Irrigated Area Mapping (GIAM) to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka
during Sept 25-27, 2006.
Currently, we are in a process of identifying key National partners in
your Country. I am writing this to you because you are a CSSTE
graduate and may have potential to be nominated.
Who can participate;
1. RS/GIS expert with substantial knowledge of irrigated areas of your
Country; 2. have support and blessings of your parental organization;
3. someone influential enough and/or have support of authorities to
participate and map irrigated areas of your Country; and 4. play
partnership role with IWMI in mapping irrigated areas of your Country
using IWMI developed methods and datasets that will then be shared on
public domain globally.
Please visit the following workshop website for further information and
for workshop Goals and planned outcomes. Please do online registration
for the workshop at:
http://www.iwmidsp.org/iwmi/giam-workshop/.
During the workshop, we plan to launch a "Consortium for Irrigated Area
Mapping and Assessment (CIAMA)" in which we like to have above
persons/institutions they represent as partners.
Kind regards
Dr. Chandrashekhar Biradar
