Everyone:

Forget it; my question was answered. (View, Options, set file type as CAD...).

  Thanks, trina

When I view shapefiles in Microsoft Windows explorer, the type is showing as "AutoCAD shape source" or "AutoCAD compiled shape." This corresponds with our having trouble with a couple shapefiles, but I have no idea at this point whether the two are related.

I also do not really know that Windows explorer has not always given the type as "AutoCAD..."

  Can anyone shed light?

  Thanks very much, Trina
