shrug-l: Shapefile Editing Assistance Needed

multiple vertices  (and a lot of other nice editing functions that require a

SHRUGGIES, 

Does anyone know of how to delete multiple vertices at once when editing a
shapefile ?? 

I have tried several different ways of deleting the vertices, however, the
only one that works for me the best is deleting them one at a time.
