shrug-l: ModelBuilder question

I am having trouble getting Model Builder to join something with a
one-to many relationship (a point to parcel spatial join output) to
something else with a one to one relationship( a selection of parcels).
In arc map, this would be a simple join, but it appears that the Toolbox
version does not have the capability to simply select the first one
(even though the literature says it does). If I could simply select the
duplicates, I could delete them, but I couldn't find a tool to do it.
Our programmer wrote an SQL query that would select them (see below),
but I can't find a tool that will accept an advanced SQL query. I would
be grateful for any ideas.

"FID" IN (SELECT MIN( "FID" ) FROM SPJoin2 GROUP BY "PARCELNUM")

Thanks,
