Thanks for the thoughts.

Tripp, can you re-send your 12/19 post about 9.3? Our e-mail system blew
it away for some reason. Please try it withOUT any attachments, as that
may be why it got trashed. Thanks.

At the risk of telling others out there something they already know - it
seems prudent to back up the ArcMap mxt template, the Catalog gxt file,
and the Toolbox dat file, and toolboxes - often. Especially if you've
heavily customized your work areas as I have. Got tired of having the
mxt go bad and rebuilding it from scratch - now I just copy the latest
good version from my backups. One can never have too many backups ...

We have with no problem as long as the machine and map you are applying
the template to has the same printers, extensions and service packs
installed. Remember, ArcCatalog can only use the normal.gxt. The
normal.mxt or any mxt only applies to ArcMap. Also if you create any
custom toolboxes in ArcToolbox, then those need to be accessible as
well.

Hello -

Has anybody ever tried applying the ArcMap/Catalog/Toolbox templates &
preferences (the "normal.mxt", etc files) from one ArcGIS 9x install to
another? Eg. to re-create the current ArcMap data view layout, toolbars,
etc on a different computer running 9x.

Thanks,
Tim
