You and a large group of GIS professionals in Florida have been chosen to
complete a very important survey that will help to improve the geographic
location and analysis of crash, traffic, and roadway information.

This survey is being sponsored by the Florida Department of Transportation,
Florida Department of Health, Department of Highway Safety and Motor
Vehicles, Florida Healthcare Administration Agency, Florida Office of the
State Courts Administrator, Florida Highway Patrol, and Florida Department
of Transportation's Office of Motor Carrier Compliance.

The concept of a Unified Transportation Roadway Basemap that includes all
roads for all public entities is currently being pursued by the State
Department of Transportation. This roadway basemap is perceived to be a
comprehensive statewide roadway data resource that is easily accessible,
managed and maintained through documented procedures, standards,
partnerships and cooperative agreements.

This Survey is being conducted to assess what potential Unified Roadway
Basemap stakeholders are using and to gauge levels of interest in sharing
safety and roadway data. Stakeholders include all state, regional, county
and city transportation related agencies who have a need to store and
analyze safety and traffic data.

If you have not already done so, Please take the time to fill out the
survey AND pass it on to your GIS friends who will be interested in
participating or contributing towards this project.

The survey will be accessible for you to fill out until February 9th 2007.

Please take some time to fill out the survey and contribute to enhancing
the value of safety data in Florida. Better data will result in the
ability to more accurately prioritize resources to improve the safety for
all of Florida’s residents and visitors.

Thank You!
