This email contains important information regarding a WAAS update and a new Trimble Operating System for Mapping & GIS equipment. We have condensed this information and attached some links so that you will be able to get the information that you need easily.
WAAS UPDATE Information!
The FAA has just released a timeline for its WAAS satellites. On July 12 2007, the PRN 138 WAAS satellite will become operational. On July 16 2007, the older WAAS satellites, PRN 122 and PRN 134, will be turned off. If you are using any of the Trimble equipment listed below and use WAAS as a real-time correction source, you need to make sure you have the appropriate GPS firmware installed. * If your software is not updated, you will be unable to receive WAAS corrections!

Geo Explorer 2003 Series Update Procedure:
· Go to this link <http://www.trimble.com/geoxt_ts.asp?Nav=Collection-38630> GeoExplorer 2003 v1.26 firmware update
· Click on v1.26 GeoExplorer Series, GPS Firmware and save it to your computer.
· Make sure you have Microsoft ActiveSync v4.5 installed on your computer. If not, uninstall the old version and download/install the new version. <http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/activesync/activesync45.mspx> ActiveSync 4.5 Download
· Place your Geo in the black cradle and connect it to your desktop computer with a USB cable. When the ActiveSync window comes up, click on cancel, and connect as a Guest.
· Run the GeoExplorer 2003 and CE series v1.26 Firmware.exe
· Once completed you will be able to track the new WAAS satellites
Geo Explorer 2005 Series Update Procedure:
· Check to see what version of GPS firmware you are running on the Geo
o Click on Start, Settings, System tab (located on the bottom of the screen), and then the System Information icon.
o GPS firmware is located 2nd from the bottom
· Go to this link <http://www.trimble.com/geoxh_ts.asp?Nav=Collection-36699> GeoExplorer 2005 v1.81 firmware update
· Click on v1.81 GeoExplorer 2005 Series, GPS Firmware and save it to your computer.
· Make sure you have Microsoft ActiveSync v4.5 installed on your computer. If not, uninstall the old version and download/install the new version. <http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/activesync/activesync45.mspx> ActiveSync 4.5 Download
· Place your Geo in the grey cradle and connect it to your desktop computer with a USB cable. When the ActiveSync window comes up, click on cancel, and connect as a Guest.
· Run the GeoExplorer 2005 series v1.81 GPS Firmware.
· Once the update is complete, go to this link <http://www.trimble.com/geoxh_ts.asp?Nav=Collection-36699> SBAS.ini.
· Scroll down and click on SBAS.INI. Save it to your computer.
· Navigate to My Computer/Mobile Device/ My Windows Mobile-Based Device/Program Files/Common Files/Trimble/Config and copy the SBAS.ini file into this directory. Click on OK for the file conversion and yes to over write the existing file.
· Once completed you will be able to track the new WAAS satellites
ProXT/XH Update Procedure:
· Go to this link <http://www.trimble.com/pathfinderproxh_ts.asp?Nav=Collection-32836> GPS Pathfinder Pro Series v1.80 firmware
· Click on v1.80 GPS Pathfinder Pro Series, GPS Firmware and save it to your computer.
· Connect the GPS receiver to the computer.
o Connect the power adapter to the GPS receiver.
o Connect GPS receiver to the computer using a null modem cable. (Trimble PN 18532 REV C)
· Run the GPS Pathfinder Pro Series v1.80 GPS Firmware.exe
· Choose the correct COM Port that GPS is connected to on the computer.
o If you are not sure which port you are connected to:
§ Right Click on My Computer
§ Select the Hardware Tab
§ Select Device Manager
§ Click on the plus (+) sign next to Ports (COM & LPT)
§ You will which COM Port you are using
· Click on Finish when both progress bars reach 100%
· Once completed you will be able to track the new WAAS satellites
· Update your data collector or PC.
· Go to this link <http://www.trimble.com/geoxh_ts.asp?Nav=Collection-36699> SBAS.ini.
· Click on SBAS.INI and save to your computer.
· Windows Mobile/CE Data Collector:
o Make sure you have Microsoft ActiveSync v4.5 installed on your computer. If not, uninstall the old version and download/install the new version. <http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/activesync/activesync45.mspx> ActiveSync 4.5 Download
o Connect your Data collector using a USB cable. When the ActiveSync window comes up, click on cancel, and connect as a Guest.
o Navigate to My Computer/Mobile Device/ My Windows Mobile-Based Device/Program Files/Common Files/Trimble/Config and copy the SBAS.ini file into this directory. Click on OK for the file conversion and Yes to over write the existing file.
· PC or Tablet as a data collector:
o If you are using GPS Controller, TerraSync, GPS Correct, or GPS Pathfinder Tools SDK, copy the SBAS.ini file into C:\Program Files\Common Files\Trimble\Config
o If you are using GPS Analyst v2.0 and later, Copy the SBAS.ini file into C:\Program Files\Trimble\GPS Analyst\Bin
o If you are using GPS Analyst v1.20 and earlier, copy the SBAS.ini file into C:\Program Files\Common Files\Trimble\Config

Trimble has released a new OS upgrade, v5.1.15, for all GeoExplorer 2005 Series

Firmware Versions
· Check to see what version of GPS firmware you are running on the Geo
o Click on Start, Settings, System tab (located on the bottom of the screen), and then the System Information icon.
o What is the OS REV?
* If you have 5.1.12 you need to install I this sequence:
* 5.1.13
* 5.1.15
* If you have 5.1.13 you need to install I this sequence:
* 5.1.15
* If you have 5.1.14 you need to install I this sequence:
* 5.1.15
Upgrade Procedure
* Download the appropriate firmware version

* Click on v5.1.13 - GeoExplorer 2005 Operating System and save it to your computer.
* Click here to download <http://www.trimble.com/geoxh_ts.asp?Nav=Collection-36699> 5.1.15
* Click on v5.1.15 - GeoExplorer 2005 Operating System and save it to your computer.
· Make sure you have Microsoft ActiveSync v4.5 installed on your computer. If not, uninstall the old version and download/install the new version. <http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/activesync/activesync45.mspx> ActiveSync 4.5 Download

· Click on OK for the file conversion.
· On the Geo, click on Start/ Programs and select file explorer.
· Navigate to the My Device Folder and select the file you just pasted into this directory.
· Follow the instructions on the screen.
