shrug-l: RE: Limits in number/data of Map Services in ArcGIS Server
applications

I am wondering if I have hit a snag in the limits in the number of map
services or the data amount an ArcGIS server application can take.
Originally, I have a few map services each of which has quite some
layers/groups_of_layers. All those map services are fine when viewed in
ArcMap and ArcCatalog. They are also showing perfectly fine in ArcGIS
server applications when viewed individually. However, when I began to
add those services to an ArcGIS server application, the symbology began
to show distortion and in some cases some features did not show up at
all. This is particularly true when adding a data-heavy large service
that is made up of a nation-wide 500-m grid (very large data set). In
addition, when such a map service is added, I "lost" some of the
attributes of other services (e.g. mapidentify return null columns). I
have tried using different orders of adding small and large map
services. I also played a little bit with the map service parameters
such as cached/noncached, pooled/nonpooled, map/data/query settings, but
none appeared to help.
I am a novice in ArcGIS server and I am wondering if some of you have
encountered similar problems and would share your experiences.
Thanks
