SALARY RANGE:

 

$32,696.82 - $54,846.74 annually

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a
major course of study in one of the computer sciences or in management
information systems.

 

Experience in planning computer systems analysis, computer programming,
planning, designing, installing or troubleshooting distributed computer
systems, or in management information systems, may substitute on a
year-for-year basis for the required education.

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

Must possess a valid Driver License.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

*        Ability to use computers to research parcel numbers and locate
properties.

*        Must have excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel and
Access).

*        Knowledge of ARC View, ARC Info and ARC Pad.

*        Knowledge of basic data processing operations, equipment,
procedures and workflow and ability to retrieve electronic information.

*        Skilled in operating a variety of data processing equipment.

*        Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and
to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

*        Ability to use database, spread sheet, and mapping and spatial
analysis software.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

This is a professional position responsible for constructing and
maintaining databases and producing mapping outputs for the Cooperative
Agricultural Pest Survey Program.

 

Collects data from pest survey activities and inputs into databases.
Prepares maps depicting distribution and other attributes of exotic and
newly established plant pests in Florida.  Responsible for producing
maps and statistics for data analysis for use at different governmental
levels, agencies and the Capitol.  Provide analysis of data and reports,
as requested.

 

Designs, develops and maintains special use databases related to pest
survey.  This may include analyzing user requirements, restructuring
existing databases, and developing input forms.  Links database to
mapping applications, and develops queries and reports to generate from
simple lists to material suitable for scientific publication.

 

Assists in configuring electronic devices to capture field data and
geocoordinate information.

 

Recommends, reviews and/or assists in accruing data to maintain accurate
GIS data layers.

 

Prepares and inputs data into the National Agriculture Pest Information
System database.

 

Keeps abreast of new technology, software development, and information
system for GIS use.

 

Consults with staff and others in government, business, and private
organizations to discuss issues, coordinate activities, and resolve GIS
related issues.

 

Other duties as the Supervisor, Bureau Chief, Assistant Director and
Director may require including special reports, special assignments and
travel, committee appointments, task force appointments, etc.
