Subject: OPS GIS/Remote Sensing Analyst position with the Florida Division of Forestry
We have an immediate opening for a GIS/Remote Sensing Analyst available at the Florida Division of Forestry. The position is located in Tallahassee, Florida. This position is a temporary position listed as Other Personnel Services (OPS) position, working within the Division's Information Technology Section.
Duties and Responsibilities -
* Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates technical phases of remote sensing and GIS work.
* Plans and coordinates work to develop improved techniques and procedures to solve unusual problems requiring creativity in the modification of conventional practices.
* Creation and development of vector and raster layers.
* Conduct sophisticated spatial modeling with ArcGIS and ERDAS Imagine tools.
* Works in coordination with agency program leads to meet project deadlines
* Responsible for advanced image processing algorithm development using various types of imagery (medium resolution, multi-spectral imagery from SPOT 5, Landsat 7, Ikonos) and other satellite and aerial sources as acquired.
* Responsible for production and analysis of classified (thematic) image data and related products to support forestry production activities.
* Program and automate complex remote sensing and GIS tasks/processes to make data processing and analyses more efficient, solve unique and diverse technical problems.
Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:
* At minimum a college diploma or university degree in the field of geography, computer science or environmental sciences and/or 2 years equivalent work experience. Masters Degree preferred.
* Knowledge and use of ARCGIS, Spatial Analyst Extension, ERDAS Imagine
* Knowledge of GIS concepts and computer operations procedures and systems.
* Project management and process modeling skills necessary
