shrug-l: shared boundary

Has anyone here had experience symbolizing a shared boundary?
 
Say two polygons are symbolized with different color outlines. Along their shared boundary, one boundary overlaps another and that is the only color shown. Is there a way to represent both colors along this shared boundary?
