I second Aries comments regarding Canon plotters. We have been thrilled with our IPF8100,.....after about a dozen years with HP.

Hello Scott

After having problems with several of the wide format HP Printers, we have been very happy with the move to Canon. At the time we purchased our first canon unit, it was more than half the price of the similar HP unit available. We now have 2 Canon IPF8100 units, one strictly for GIS, while the other is in tandem with a Colortrac scanner (scan/copy/print). We are very pleased with the move and the cost saving, especially in this economy.

This has also allowed others around us to save some money as well. The Utility company in town came by our office and liked it so much that they bought one as well. If you have any questions about the IPF8100, do not hesitate to give me a call.

Scott,
HP has several good units such as the HP Designjet 4520 Multifunction Plotter or the Designjet T1120 HD. I have a couple of clients that use earlier versions of these with great success. They are reliable, produce a great plot and scan, and integrate well into a GIS or CAD environment. However you pay a lot for the HP name.

Canon has recently entered the wide format arena with both plotters and scanners. They have some systems that are at least claim to be as good as HP’s but at about 2/3 the price. I have one client that uses a Canon plotter and scanner combination. He loves it.

Hello Everyone,

Looking for a new multifunction plotter that can plot, scan, network ready and possibly has multi-roll functions available in the GIS office. Can anyone out there recommend a good one that they like in the office or have seen that has these types of abilities?

Thanks for the help in advance-
Scott
