ANNOUNCING A SOCIAL MEDIA CONTEST – START TEXTING!

The 2010 Geospatial Conference is leveraging Social Media as a means to emphasis the Conference theme, which is “Partnering for Success”. We want to engage you whether you plan to physically attend the Conference or not. We have made it a contest and encourage your participation.

Both GITA and Georgia URISA have hosted “Return-On-Investment (ROI)” Workshops over the past year with a focus on communicating the value in geospatial investments to decision-makers and the public. To bring continuity (and *awards*!!) to this year’s conference, we will be showcasing your geospatially related ROIs via Facebook at: http://tinyurl.com/3xx2qh6 . Please submit comments about your ROI(s) to the 2010 Geospatial Conference Facebook page http://tinyurl.com/3xx2qh6 .

Among other awards to be announced, the top 2 ROI Case Studies submitted by September 30, 2010, will receive the following:

*	1 Registration Reimbursement to the 2010 Geospatial Conference ($225)
*	1 Pre-Conference Workshop Reimbursement ($195)

We look forward to seeing you at the upcoming 2010 Geospatial Conference in Athens, GA on Oct 19 – 21. More information at: http://www.georgiaspatial.com <http://www.georgiaspatial.com/> , sponsored by Georgia URISA, ASPRS, GITA and SAMSOG. This is the first co-located conference of its kind in Georgia and the Southeast region. You will gain insights from over 40 breakout sessions, hear from distinguished speakers and experience networking and one-on-one interaction only available in this immersive environment. If you haven’t yet registered, please do so by October 1st to save on the early bird registration.

Thank you!

2010 Geospatial Conference Committee

 Guidelines:

*	All ROIs submitted by COB Oct 21 will be eligible for awards.
*	Awards for the most popular ROI to be given on Oct 22 at the closing session of the Conference.
*	ROIs should preferably be from Georgia, but this is not a requirement.
*	ROIs with a focus on improved flood management/planning and/or increased revenue from geospatially managed tax rolls are highly desirable.
*	If your ROI wins, but you are not in attendance, you will have to make arrangements to collect your award.
*	No limit, submit as many ROIs as you can document. However, only 1 award per entity.
*	Whether you submit an ROI or not, please vote on your favorite ROI submittals via the Facebook “Like” preference. Considerations for “winning” ROIs include:

	*	ROIs that can be emulated elsewhere across the state (i.e., “scalability”)
	*	ROIs that is quantifiable as possible
	*	ROIs that address saving lives, generating revenue, saving money, cost-avoidance, increasing efficiency, increasing accuracy, increasing productivity, supporting decision-making, automating workflow, building information base, managing resources, improving access to government, increasing communication & collaboration
