Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC is recruiting for a
full time faculty position for the Geospatial Technology program.


This is a ten month faculty position which is required to teach 36 load
hours per year within the subject area.  Required to maintain
relationships within local industry to ensure relevancy of training
program.  The selected candidate will be required to teach online and
in-person courses and participate in grant funded activities.


The Geospatial Technology program at Central Piedmont Community College
offers the only associate degree in this subject within the State of
North Carolina.  In addition to the associate degree, numerous
specialized curriculum certificates are offered as well as shorter
continuing education courses.  Training is available in a number of
formats, including online, in person and hybrid sections.  Students
enrolled in GIS courses at CPCC originate from programs in the
Engineering Technology division, the Sciences division as well from as
the Information Technology division.


Instructors for Central Piedmont Community College will be expected to:

*  Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the field or discipline; stay
current in subject matter through professional development, involvement
in professional organizations, and attending professional meetings,
conference or workshops.
*  Plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize student learning;
employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate
subject matter to students including strategies to meet diverse
students' needs.
*  Teach classes as assigned in a multi-campus environment including
credit or non-credit courses within field or discipline as needed.
*  Serve on college, divisional and program committees as assigned,
participate in meetings and events as required.
*  Contribute to program and division curriculum development processes.
*  Contribute to College, Unit, and Division planning and development

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in geography, GIS, or related discipline. Expertise
required in GIS. Demonstrated excellence in teaching and scholarship and
commitment to college initiatives required. Successful candidate will be
expected to develop and teach courses in GIS at a curriculum and
continuing education level. 

Desirable Qualifications:
Masters degree in Geography, GIS, Geospatial Technology and two years
teaching Geography or GIS within higher education.  Specialization in
GPS or remote sensing preferred.
