Yes it is a lock file. I believe normally associated with a File GDB.
I know the SHX extension is used by other programs such as AutoCAD. It is a
font file. I suppose that could be used to encapsulate a virus.

Great question - I can't answer that one, but do you (or anyone) have any
idea what a ".sr.lock" file might be? Seems like it might be a schema lock
under ArcMAP 10.
