shrug-l: Windows Task (Un)Scheduler

Hey Shruggers,
Has anyone else had hit and miss experiences with Task Scheduler?
I've had some tasks running every 4 hours for a number of months and
generally the tasks executed most of time. Sometimes task scheduler
would say they ran, but I know they did not from lack of notification,
from within the script, and the absence of updated data.
Then in the past few days the reliability went way down. I then had
reason, different reason, to switch to an hourly run for the tasks,
which Task Scheduler said it was doing, but it actually was not. The
server logs do not show any errors. And no errors were generated by the
scripts...probably because they did not actually run.
I found a post on MSDN that indicated that Task Scheduler has a problem
with python, so I used a bat file instead and called the python scripts
from there, which worked every hour from 5pm yesterday until 9am this
morning. And now it's doing the same thing again...saying it is running
the task, but nothing happens.
Even manually running the task from the Task Scheduler GUI doesn't do
anything. It says it works, says it ran, but nothing happens.
Any thoughts out there?
Thanks
