This Windows 7 machine seems to work fine, although Arc will not use all 8 cores

Subject: shrug-l: ArcMap 10 - What computer to use?

Hello all,

I recently finished a big project that I started using 9.3.1. With its completion I felt it safe to finally upgrade to ArcMap 10 (ArcInfo, or guess called Advance level license). While my computer is handling the resource intensive program I have noticed some sluggishness and a few crashed. It is a bad thing when Task Manager even shows "Not Responding".

To my question. I have some funding for a new computer and would like to get one that can handle the New 10. So what are you running 10 on and what do you suggest I look at. If it matters I'll be running duel monitors, using ArcInfo, and may get into server and web map publishing along with general analysis tasks and routine GIS work.

Thanks all in advance,
