Hi all,

First thanks for all the great emails with tips on how to solve my issue. As an update it does seem to be a resource issue with the auto refresh that is scheduled at midnight by default not having enough time for all map services to stop and restart before timing out. I have deleted some old map services that are no longer used and adjusted the daily restart time on some of the map services so that all of them are not happening at the same time. Since taking those steps I have not had an issue with a map service stopping and not reseating during the overnight hours.

Again thanks all for your great information and directions it really helped out.

Subject: Some map service stopping overnight. Why?

I have a relatively new issue that has come up with some of my map services. We are running Arc Server Advance 10.2.2. A few of my recently published map services will stop during the night. I've looked at the logs on the server and it appears that it is happening around midnight. During this time the services are set to stop and restart as part of the default 'Recycling' settings under Processes. I did notice that the one common factor of the map services that were stopping had KML capabilities check. I unchecked those yesterday and this morning the services were all running.

So question is, has anyone else experienced map services stopping during overnight hours? Not all, just a few. Also while it has only been one night since I unchecked the KML capabilities and more nights will be needed to confirm a fix I have other older (year or more) map services that have been running and still do with KML capability checked that operate with no issues (no overnight stopping). Any ideas on what might be causing this seemingly random stopping of map services overnight?

Thanks all,
