Overview
This position oversees the GIS Operations team for Florida which is responsible for the accuracy of all distribution and transmission facilities in the GIS System (Geospatial Information System).  This information is used for all aspects of Distribution Operations including Restoration, Construction, Engineering, Vegetation Management and Asset Management.  This position supervises a staff of GIS technical personnel who perform various GIS activities including: GIS Engineering input, GIS Quality Assurance and Quality Control GIS Audits.  This position also manages the performance and quality of GIS contractors who perform similar work. This position will ensure the GIS Operations group is meeting their weekly goals regarding quality and quantity of GIS Input work to meet the expectations of the organization.  Provides GIS expertise to recognize and resolve complex GIS/technical problems to ensure safe, reliable and efficient system operation.

Job Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:

  *   Supervises the GIS and/or other technical team to ensure the accuracy of the distribution assets (poles, transformers, etc.) in the GIS (mapping system) to provide improved Distribution and Transmission Operations in the area of Restoration, Construction, Engineering, Vegetation Management and Asset Management.
  *   Ensures assigned work is completed according to schedule and in compliance with GIS standards. Ensures standard work processes are followed by team. Complete field reviews to observe progress, performance, quality and results.  Monitors team results to identify opportunities for improvement.  Initiates actions to ensure objectives are achieved and improvement opportunities are addressed.  Provides guidance in the identification and resolution of GIS and technical problems to ensure the safe and efficient operation the system.  Provides oversight to the GIS team for the application of company policies (including customer charging, equipment applications, standards, etc.)
  *   Maintains productive and motivated work force to ensure a cohesive team effort.  Actively shares information with employees.  Develop a culture of two-way communication, encouraging employee feedback.  Enable employees to make decisions within boundaries of process and goals.  Resolves employee issues such as corrective action.  Develop a culture which supports continuous employee development (training, career development, technical).  To provide individual employee feedback to ensure continuous improvement.  Ensure safe working conditions and practices by providing adequate safety training of work practices and procedures.  Initiate action to promptly correct potential or actual safety problems.
  *   Implement Continuous Improvement. Serve as model of leadership for change.  Analyze feedback to ensure appropriate actions are taken to positively impact results.  Provide performance feedback to leadership for continuous improvement.  Ensures implementation of organizational improvements and technology.
  *   Maintain positive internal customer relations to resolve complaints and concerns.  Respond in a timely manner to internal customer concerns.  Negotiate with internal customer for satisfactory resolution.  Ensures that internal customer incidents are thoroughly investigated and reviewed with responsible employee.
  *   Supports operations including Distribution Control Center, Engineering, Construction, Asset Management, Reliability and Vegetation Management teams during day to day activities. Provides after hours and emergency support to support storm restoration.
