<P><FONT SIZE=4 FACE="Arial">I just caught up on this thread after getting back from Christmas vacation.</FONT>

<P><FONT SIZE=4 FACE="Arial">One of my biggest complaints is that many files I have received from various sources are NOT projected at all! (E.g., if you look at the Properties, Coordinate System window, the Coordinate System is listed as "Unknown").</FONT></P>
<P><FONT SIZE=4 FACE="Arial">The data may be in either State Plane Coordinates or Geographical Coordinates (decimal degrees), but there is no associated projection with the data (e.g., the data is a flat sheet). Unless the data comes from a really small area, it gets distorted no matter how you try to project or reproject it. The only luck I have sometimes had is where point data in State Plane Coordinates (either NAD27 or NAD83) was involved and I could run the file through CorpCon to project it to Lat/Long NAD83-HARN. For some reason this seems to work when the Project or Reproject commands in the ArcToolbox don't.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT SIZE=4 FACE="Arial">What experience (trouble) have other SHRUG List members had with this issue?</FONT>
