cents on the subject….<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Verdana;color:black'>Even though I am now
out of state, I still am actively involved in the GIS community in <st1:City
w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Tallahassee</st1:place></st1:City> and SHRUG
when I can be. I also do believe that the SHRUG conferences are the best
in the area, especially that one in 2004 :^)<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><font size=2 color=black face=Verdana><span
style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Verdana;color:black'>As a past Vice
President of SHRUG, a former SHRUG Workshop Chairman, and a SHRUG Workshop
committee member for several years, I can honestly say that one thing that
made the SHRUG conferences different and better is that we planned them for
what we as GIS professionals and other GIS professionals wanted to see and
learn at a conference. We actively researched topics, trainings, meetings
and of course social events to make sure there was going to be an interest in
them at the workshop. My only fear if SHRUG joined with FLURISA would be
that this connection between what is being presented and what the GIS
professionals want would be lost.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><font size=2 color=black face=Verdana><span
style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Verdana;color:black'><o:p> </o:p></span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><font size=2 color=black face=Verdana><span
style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Verdana;color:black'>I think that having
surveyors come together with GIS professional in a social setting would help
everyone to learn more about the other’s profession. Come on, how
much do we really know about surveyors? They just hit that button on the
GPS, right? Just keep in mind that in some aspects, these people you are
now joining together are very different. These aspects must be bridged
with some basic informative sessions as the workshops so that the two groups
can actually come together. To future help bridge that gap could be some
really neat new social events that would eliminate the GIS people on one side
and the surveyors on the other side scenario. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><font size=2 color=black face=Verdana><span
style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Verdana;color:black'><o:p> </o:p></span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><font size=2 color=black face=Verdana><span

president of both…knowing Lee and working with Lee at SHRUG for many many
years, I have to say that he really only the interests of both organizations at
heart. I know he will benefit both SHRUG and FLURISA with his new ideas
and enthusiasm. And hence if any of you are really concerned about this,
then please step up to a leadership role in either organization and make
something happen. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

than combine the two conferences I would prefer for to get different
professional surveyors that consistently provide accurate, usable data to GIS
