The position I have been in for the past 3 years while
developing our Enterprise GIS was a grant funded position that was not under
the purview of our IT department; weird, sad and true. Now that the grant is
over my position is being moved to the Database Administration section of our Office
of Information Technology. However, the move necessitates the reclassifying of
my current position which is not related to any IT functions; I guess I have
been kind of working out of class for a while. I’m hoping that some of
you out there in Florida state government can help give me an idea of the most
appropriate position title/class, i.e. Data Base Analyst, Senior Database Analyst,
Database Peon, Systems Programmer (I, II, III, IV…well you get the
point), etc. and perhaps some stock position descriptions that are
related to the management of an enterprise GIS.
