The Florida Department of Corrections recently posted a position on the People First website, a Senior Data Base Analyst, that is primarily tasked with maintaining and growing their Enterprise GIS. It is located here in Tallahassee and closes on August 12th. I used to do the work listed in the announcement before leaving there recently. I enjoyed the work emensely as it gave me the opportunity to experience and develop skills in many areas of GIS, from basic desktop fucntions to advanced server functions. <P>DESCRIPTION</P>
<P>This position will perform daily GIS support and interaction of the GIS effort. Requires broad GIS knowledge and demonstrates the ability in GIS implementation, integration and support. Maintains all aspects of applications and DBA functions, integration of data from disparate source, defining data types, identifying data anomalies and business request for database changes. </P>
<P>SPECIAL SKILLS</P>
<P>Provide Enterprise GIS system support to ensure GIS software is properly developed and implemented, results in available problem free operation.</P>
<P>Creates and manages GIS and related databases, data warehousing design, data architecture strategy design, database performance, security, monitoring back up and recovery, tuning and capacity planning.</P>
<P>Implements operational standards such as input, maintenance; map production standards, testing; and data preparation standards enabling research, verification and problem solution across the enterprise.</P>
<P>Provides user support, including day-to-day support, to sustain the user community's activities in the use and development of their GIS and related applications. Their responsibility includes technical assistance, special project production, training and assistance with the development of new application and data to be intergraded into the enterprise GIS.</P>
<P>Assist with technical review of hardware, software, data, and other related components to insure compliance with GIS standards. Plans and prepares technical reports, memoranda, and instructional manuals as documentation of system and data configurations.</P>
<P>Coordinates multiple GIS development projects simultaneously. Principal technical lead to communicating with other organization in GIS data exchanges.</P>
<P>Participates in regular meeting with technical personnel in reviewing the progress of projects and executive management to provide updates on the progress of projects.</P>
<P>Responsible for monitoring the traceability of project implementations to the requirements defined by the user by maintaining documentation that links user requirements, test cases, and implementation together.</P>
<P>Performs other duties as assigned. </P>
<P>MINIMUM QUALIFICATION</P>
<P>A Bachelor's Degree from an Accredited college or university in Management Information Systems or in one of the computer sciences and four years of experience in computer systems analysis and/or computer programming, two years of which must have been in data base design; or a Bachelor's Degree from an Accredited college or university and five years of experience in Computer Systems Analysis and/or computer programming, two years of which must have been in data base design. A Master's Degree from an Accredited college or university in Management Information Systems or in one of the computer sciences can substitute for one year of computer systems analysis experience. Experience in computer systems analysis and/or computer programming can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education. Completion of a one-year program of study from a vocational/technical school in an area of data processing (excluding data entry) can substitute for one year of the required computer systems analysis and/or computer programming experience.</P></DIV></SPAN></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></SPAN></FONT></ADDRESS>
