<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>One of the recommendations made
by that plan was that a statewide GIS program office should be established
within a state agency, most likely the State CIO&#8217;s office, which is known
as the Agency for Enterprise Information Technology (AEIT)<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></span></p>

<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Recently, a survey was
conducted to obtain information regarding the use of GIS at state agencies to
bolster the case that GIS should be considered a &#8220;statewide enterprise information
management technology&#8221;. It is my feeling (and hope!) that this process
will culminate in at least more coordination among state agencies, and
hopefully grow to include other stakeholders, and eventually, all of the
recommendations made in the strategic plan.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></span></p>

<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Looking towards those other
stakeholders &#8211; i.e. county and city government, Water Management
Districts, Regional Planning Councils, universities, and business, you are
invited to participate in a further survey <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>The intent of this survey is
to gather information to build a business case for coordination of GIS within
the State of Florida. Information provided by this survey will assist in
demonstrating both the cost and benefits of GIS programs at various levels of
government and business. <br>

that are created based on this survey information will be presented in summary
