This event is hosted by City of Smyrna., and will be held at their office facility located at 200 Village Green Cir Smyrna, GA 30080.<o:p></o:p></p><p> <o:p></o:p></p><p><strong>Presentation</strong><b><br><strong>~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~</strong></b><o:p></o:p></p><p><strong>Topic: </strong>GISP Certification<br><strong>Speaker:</strong> Tripp Corbin<span style='color:#1F497D'>, </span><span style='color:windowtext'>CFM, GISP</span><br><br><strong>Description</strong>: <o:p></o:p></p><p>GIS Professional (GISP) Certification: Why and How The GIS Certified Professional or GISP should be a goal of all GIS Professionals. This certification, from the GIS Certification Institute, sets GIS as true professional alongside other Geospatial professions such as Planners, Surveyors and Engineers. This presentation will discuss the reasons and benefits to becoming a GISP, how to get your GISP certification, possible changes to the GISP certification process in the future and the impact of the new Esri Technical Certification on GISP certification. <o:p></o:p></p><p> <o:p></o:p></p><p><strong>Speaker Bio:</strong><o:p></o:p></p><p style='margin-bottom:12.0pt'>Tripp Corbin is the Vice President of GIS and IT services for Keck & Wood, Inc. He has over 20 years of surveying, mapping and GIS related experience. Most of his experience has been providing services to small and mid-sized City and County Governments throughout the Southeast. During his career, Tripp has used an array of software including AutoCAD, Microstation, ArcView, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server, MapGuide and more. He is recognized as an expert on CAD and GIS integration. The “Using AutoCAD Data in ArcGIS” course<span style='color:#1F497D'>,</span> which he co-authored<span style='color:#1F497D'>,</span> has been widely used here in the US and Internationally. <span style='color:#1F497D'><o:p></o:p></span></p><p style='margin-bottom:12.0pt'>Tripp has earned a large number of certifications including GISP, CFM, CTT+, and most recently Esri ArcGIS Desktop Certified Associate. Tripp is a past President of Georgia URISA and is the current chair of the URISA International Chapter Relations Committee. He is also a member of the GISP Application Review committee. Other contributions Tripp has made to the GIS Profession include helping to draft the new Geospatial Technology Competency Model that was adopted by the US Department of Labor, presenting at various conferences and workshops around the US, and providing help to other GIS Professionals around the world on various blogs, lists and forums.<o:p></o:p></p><p><strong>Overview</strong><b><br><strong>~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~</strong></b><o:p></o:p></p><p>Monthly luncheons are held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month.
