The long and short of it is you can’t just simple edit the spatial extents unless the data is stored in an enterprise SDE geodatabase. Even then you have to do it through a command line. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Several folks we able to suggest some work arounds. It works. I used that method when I was working for Gulf Islands National Seashore and because we have barrier islands that go from here in Florida all the way down to Mississippi, I would have that problem when trying to create maps of recreational areas et. al. So I just manually created a polygon and then drew its boundaries around all of the islands.
