<P>Trying to calculate length in ArcGIS 10, Service Pack 3 on Windows 7.</P>
<P>Used Calculate Geometry sucessfully to calculate the XY end coordinates of the lines in a 400, 000+ record dbase file.</P>
<P>Then used the tool 'XY to Line' to produce a resultant file.</P>
<P>Added a field called Distance (data type double) to the result file.</P>
<P>Right click on 'Distance', scrolled to Calculate Geometry.</P>
<P>The top dropdown box showed Length-Disabled.</P>
<P>This procedure worked for a file with 4 records.</P>

<P>Had some problems until I got a Unique ID for all the records but after that still got Length -Disabled.</P>
