We are looking for a fulltime GIS analyst (contract) with the Bureau of Forest Logistics and Support to assist the forest rural stewardship program with their GIS needs. <br>Duties: Under the direct supervision of the Forestry Stewardship manager and in cooperation with the program GIS Manager candidate will assist with and provide technical support and training to FFS field staff on GIS and GPS. Candidate will be required to conduct QA/QC of GIS geodatabases related to a private land management and longleaf pine forest tracking. Candidate will be required to conduct other related GIS functions.<br><br>Qualifications:<br>BA/BS degree in Forestry, Ecology, Geography, Geology, Hydrology, Environmental Studies or related field. <br>3-5 years of professional GIS experience.<br>Proficiency with ArcGIS software suite: both 9x and 10x versions.<br>Knowledgeable of the ArcMap ArcCatalog, and ArcPad environments, including tool options, settings, customization, editing processes, and working with different file formats (vector/raster).<br>Understands the geodatabase environment and working with coordinate systems and projections.<br>Good sense of cartographic design and understanding of layouts, map elements, and publishing. <br>Experience providing technical assistance; works well with end users of widely varying skill level.<br>Comfortable providing assistance by phone and using remote desktop.<br>Basic understanding of GPS technical requirements and environmental settings.<br>Familiarity with various GPS technologies and software, and ability to trouble-shoot field problems.<br>Experience developing, coordinating and conducting technical training to individuals as well as large classrooms.<br>Comfortable working with raster imagery and knowledge of remote sensing.<br>Ability to compose documentation containing both summary and detailed components.<br><br>Salary: 15-22$ an hour commensurate with experience<br><br>Employment Status: This is a fulltime contract position.<br><br>Submit your resume and cover letter via email to susan.leverette@freshfromflorida.com or call 850-414-8554. www.floridaforestservice.com<o:p></o:p></span></font></p><p class=MsoNormal><font size=2 face=Calibri><span style='font-size:11.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></font></p></div></body></html>
