Good comments Tom. I would be glad to offer the cases we have recouped money
for at the next SQG conference.

Andrea,

I pretty much agree with everything Charles & Patty said, but of course I
alsways have something to say.

1. The folks at the OC Landfill HHW Center are already getting waste from
businesses, and I'm sure they realize it.

2. A CESQG Program helps deter businesses utilizing the HHW Center because
it gives them an easy, economical way to deal with their Haz Waste. The
prices are normally much less than having a hauler pick it up.

3. Yes, you have to screen your customers, but you have to screen them at
the HHW Center, anyway.

4. We started doing our CESQG collections about a year ago. We hold one
each quarter. Danielle (our #1 SQG person) is down there with a laptop
verifying that they are CESQGs. I recommend some type of appointment
system versus just allowing CESQGs to come in any time; however, there are
Counties who accept from CESQGs at any time.

5. I somewhat disagree with Patty's 5 gallon container point. Try to buy
more than 5 gallons of paint in one gallon containers. All of the paint &
home improvement stores really push 5 gallon pails to everyone, including
home owners.

6. Obviously, there are things to watch for and questions to ask customers
that will weed out the majority of the businesses.

7. Charles has nothing on us - How about State and Federal government
types showing up in uniforms and government vehicles - after they have been
told that there stuff is not HHW. (Of course, county or city government
would never do anything like that.)

8. I really like Charles' idea of DEP making cheaters reimburse the HHW
Center. Sounds like a topic he can present at next year's workshop.

Andrea - If it will help, please ask Dan or Oscar to call me. I think you
are going in the right direction.

Good luck,
