	MANAGEMENT CONFERENCE=20

--Experts focus on managing household and small business hazardous
materials-

MIAMI - The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is
partnering with the North American Hazardous Materials Management =
Association
to host the 19th annual National Hazardous Materials Management =
Conference in
Miami Beach, September 7 -10. Focusing on household and small business
hazardous waste, seminars will discuss pollution prevention, product
stewardship, small business regulations and consumer education.

"Educating residents and small businesses about environmental
regulations and requirements reflects the Department's commitment to a =
clean
tomorrow," said DEP Deputy Secretary for Regulatory Programs and Energy =
Allan
Bedwell. "Uniting diverse groups from across the nation to promote =
active,
cooperative information sharing and problem solving strategies protects
public health and America's natural resources."

Experts will share ideas and success stories on proper hazardous
waste collection techniques, effecting behavior change, building
public-private partnerships and managing hazardous waste data. Tours and
training sessions will provide information about hazardous materials =
safety
and transportation requirements, along with electroplating operations,
automobile repair waste and household hazardous waste facilities. =20

DEP and the Local Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center Program
together provide household hazardous waste collection services for 99 =
percent
of Florida households. Small businesses in 53 counties also manage their
hazardous waste through these collection programs.

Reservations for September's conference can be made through Loews
Miami Beach Hotel at (305) 604-1601. The deadline for registration is =
August
13th. For more information visit, www.dep.state.fl.us/secretary/conf
