The Solid Waste Management Training Committee approved the following CEU
credits for those that attend the upcoming NAHMMA and FDEP HHW/SQG
Conference. Make sure to sign in each day at the registration desk to =
ensure
that you receive your credits.
=20
5 hours FDEP Annual HHW/SQG Program Workshop and NAHMMA Conference
[12/7-12/9]
4 hours OSHA HazWoper 8 Hour Refresher Training [12/5 or 12/6]
2 hours DOT 4 Hour Awareness Training [12/6]
=20
The 1988 Solid Waste Management Act mandated training for all solid =
waste
landfill operators. In 1989, Rule 62-703, Training Operators of Solid =
Waste
Management Facilities, Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.), was adopted =
by
the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) in response to
requirements in the 1988 Act. The new rule 62-701 assures the continued
development of the Solid Waste Management Facility Operator training =
program
for all solid waste operators in Florida.=20

The Solid Waste Management Training Committee (SWMTC) was created to =
help
implement the training program. The committee includes solid waste
professionals from local government, private industry, educational
institutions and the FDEP. By providing and encouraging operator =
training,
the FDEP intends to elevate the professional status of those in the =
field of
solid waste management, further protect the environment, and improve =
landfill
compliance.=20

The UF/TREEO Center is providing administrative assistance by processing
applications for continuing education course credit (CECC) and =
maintaining
the solid waste management facility operator and spotter training =
database.

Because these dates are close to the end of year and we plan to conduct
HHW/SQG training regionally next year, we may not hold a 2005 HHW/SQG
Workshop. If we do, it will probably be a one to two day meeting in
Tallahassee. So if you budgeted for the 2005 HHW/SQG workshop, it would =
be
best to use that funding now!
=20
Please review the attached agenda as there have been changes, especially =
to
the tour and training schedules. There may be some further minor changes =
to
the agenda, so please continually check NAHMMA's website (www.nahmma.org
<http://www.nahmma.org/> ) for the most updated version.=20
=20
If you registered for the original conference dates then you are already
registered for these new dates. If you want to change anything about =
your
original registration (training, tours, etc.), please contact NAHMMA at
nahmma@sbcglobal.net or 1-877-292-1403. If you have never registered for =
the
conference, then please do so by using the attached updated registration
form. This form is NOT available on NAHMMA's website, so make sure and =
save

The Fontainebleau Hilton Resort is and has been the crown jewel of Miami
Beach. Long before the trendy street cafes and nightlife scene erupted =
on
South Beach, the famed Fontainebleau was the home to movie stars,
politicians, celebrities and notables. Rich in history, and visited by =
every
American president since Eisenhower, this legendary hotel has graced the
Miami Beach landscape for 50 years. So pack your flip-flops, suntan =
lotion
and a smile... you'll be on the beach this holiday season!
