Greetings everyone, hope your summer has been a good one.  Please see the
information below and join us on August 9th.  We're excited about the impact
of a Florida NAHMMA Chapter on HHW/SQG programs here in Florida and look
forward to your participation.

WHAT: FLORIDA NAHMMA CHAPTER Conference Call

AGENDA: 

 

*	Organizational structure-will be voted on at the May 2007 workshop
(Irene and Glenn are currently looking into 501 (c)(3) requirements for
Florida Chapter) 

*	By-laws-also to be voted on at the May 2007 workshop 

*	Annual workshop-we need approximately 10 people to work on the
planning committee 

*	Training-one goal is to develop a HAZWOPER course that has a track
that is either HHW or SQG specific; i.e., 16 hours HAZWOPER basics and 24
hours HHW or SQG.  (Current HAZWOPER training provides very little that is
germane to what we do on a daily basis operationally.) Glenn and AL are on
the NAHMMA training committee.  
*	Membership-consensus was to use the 2007 conference as a membership
drive, and the NAHMMA membership fee will be equivalent to the conference
registration fee to encourage people to join NAHMMA/become FL Chapter
members.  Suggestion has been made to secure HHW/SQG volunteers to be on a
membership committee broken down by FDEP District to disseminate news of
NAHMMA FL Chapter formation and to begin building membership in advance of
next year's workshop.  Should also address corporate and other interested
parties (outside of government) into our organizational discussions (and
membership). 

*	Sponsorship-will require volunteers to form a committee that should
be formed by Nov 2006.  Sponsorship invitations to be issued in Dec 2006. 

*	HHW Facility Guidelines-Irene to head up this committee 

*	Development and maintenance of Chapter website-Irene to perform this
task 

 

 

FL HHW/SQG Workshop and NAHMMA Chapter conference call

During the our recent workshop in Sarasota, attendees signed a petition to
form the Florida North American Hazardous Materials Management Association
Chapter (www.NAHMMA.org <http://www.nahmma.org/> ). The new chapter would
manage HHW/SQG workshops, conduct periodic trainings, participate in national
and state legislative initiatives, and whatever else its members want to do.
To get involved with this new chapter or if you have ideas for next year's
workshop, please join us on a conference call. This is your chance to help
shape the future of SQG and HHW programs.
