[Sqg-program] tanning salons

Hello!  This is definitely a problem!  By code tanning has to be
controlled and key cards would not provide a controlled environment.  I
am very interested in this; please inform me when you get more
information.  I would like to know the name of the tanning facilities
with key cards so that I may send our inspectors out to investigate.

Good morning!

 

I conducted a few tanning salon inspections on Wednesday afternoon and
one of the businesses asked me if I was aware of key cards used for
tanning salons.  I told her I had not heard of anything and asked her
for more information.  She indicated that there are at least three
tanning salons in Collier County that are working off key cards. It is
like a credit card, you put it into a slot, go into the tanning bed and
you can for as long as you want.  There are supposedly no timers on the
beds and no one watching over these facilities.  That is all the
information she had so far.  This came up when a friend of hers told her
about an employee that went to one of these facilities and came back
with a bad burn.  The employee would not give up any information of how
she obtained this key card and where the tanning facilities are, but the
facility owner I spoke to said she would let me know if she found out
any more information.  

 

Have any of the other counties heard of this type of operation?
