OSHA - Safety in the Workplace

* OSHA OFFICES: Last year Florida lead the nation in workplace
fatalities. It is important that unsafe conditions are addressed. If you see
unsafe conditions contact your local OSHA office and file a referral with the
duty officer. Please give the name of company, location of the unsafe
condition, and if possible a contact person and number. There are three OSHA
Florida Offices open Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (see list
below). The duty officers are also willing to answer questions from
businesses who do not wish to give their names. They want to help businesses
address any problems they may have.

* OSHA WEBSITE: Another good resource for businesses is the OSHA
website. The site contains the regulations, interpretations, compliance
assistance tools, etc. www.osha.gov <http://www.osha.gov>

* USF CONSULTATION SERVICES: Finally, the University of South Florida
offers OSHA consultation services where a safety consultant will inspect the
business and help them come into compliance. This is NOT an enforcement
program and they do NOT report violations to OSHA, except for fatalities. It
is a free service. If a business is interested in signing up for a
consultation have them call toll free 1-866-273-1105 or their local number
(813) 974-9962. You can also have them visit their website that is full of
information and tools. www.usfsafetyflorida.com
