Vanessa Cruz (OCEPD) recently called me with an interesting situation that I
thought I would pass along for dissemination throughout the state.

 

She was doing an inspection and the facility had their waste/product drums
outside.  A couple of guys drive up and decide they want the drums and
proceed to try to dump the material inside onto the ground.  When she
confronted them (they did not see her at first), they told her they wanted
the drums for scrap metal.  Needless to say they did not take those drums but
I bet this was not the first time they did this.

 

I wanted to spread the word in hopes of eliminating a bunch of releases
around the state.  Hopefully, we can convince facilities as a BMP to move
their drums inside or lock them up.
