FYI EPA has updated their Online Tracking Information System (OTIS). You can
use this tool to search EPA databases. For example you can search for
hazardous waste compliance data for facilities in your county. Check out the
web site at http://www.epa-otis.gov/otis/.

What is OTIS?

The Online Tracking Information System (OTIS) is a set of Web tools developed
by the Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance (OECA) for use by
federal, state, tribal, and local government agencies. OTIS allows access to
a wide range of data relating to enforcement of and compliance with
environmental laws.

Importance: High

Several OTIS tools and data systems have been refreshed! Please see the
announcement on the OTIS homepage (www.epa-otis.gov/otis) or read below.

New Features or Data Updates

TRI 2007 data is now available in OTIS! The OTIS queries, Detailed
Facility Report, TRI Comparative Tool (link to
http://www.epa-echo.gov/tricomparative/!), and MACT Tool (link to
http://www.epa-echo.gov/mact/) have been updated to use the TRI 2007
data.

The IDEA downloads (link to
http://www.epa-otis.gov/otis/idea_download.html.) have been updated to
use data from the March 2009 IDEA refresh. EPA has compiled data sets
from five primary enforcement and compliance history databases in IDEA,
including AFS, PCS, ICIS-NPDES, RCRAInfo, and ICIS FE&C. EPA has also
created an IDEA download archive (link to
http://www.epa-otis.gov/otis/idea_download_archive.html) for users who
may need to retrieve past versions of the IDEA downloads.

OTIS Facility Finder (http://www.epa-echo.gov/otis/permit_finder.html)
has been refreshed to use data from the April 2009 IDEA refresh. The
Facility Finder tool lets you submit your own list of facility names and
addresses (e.g., sector universe, corporate tree, facilities in a
geographic area) to be matched against Facility Registry System-linked
records. The tool automates the process of submitting a facility name
and address list to help identify facilities not in EPA data systems,
and/or identify probable and possible links to EPA records. Using the
tool requires a registration, which explained on the website.

The CWA Inspection Targeting Model (link to
http://www.epa-echo.gov/otis/itm/) has been updated to use data from
the April 2009 IDEA refresh. This tool is intended to aid states that
use ICIS-NPDES to develop yearly inspection plans.

Other OTIS and ECHO news

Rebecca Kane is currently on detail to another office. If you have
questions about OTIS or ECHO, and particularly about errors that have
been routed to data stewards, please contact either
battle.jernell at epa.gov, or donohue.allison at epa.gov. A full staff
directory is available at http://www.epa-otis.gov/otis/otis_staff.html

Earlier this month, OTIS and ECHO surpassed 6 million queries!

If you cannot access OTIS, it is possible that your Agency's IP address
has changed, meaning that your agency's registration needs to be
updated. Please contact me if you are experiencing problems and we will
work to update your registration.
