What's New?

1. Stormwater Webinar for Ready Mixed Concrete and Aggregates Industry
September 29 and Assistance Webpage

Two new compliance assistance tools--a webpage and a webinar--are ready
to help owners and operators in the ready mixed concrete, crushed stone
and sand and gravel sectors comply with stormwater permit
requirements. The compliance assistance resource webpage includes
federal, state and private resources, contacts and training material.
You can join the free webinar that will be presented live on September
29, 2009, focusing on the multi-sector general permit, common
violations and best management practices. See the resource page at:
 http://www.epa.gov/compliance/assistance/sectors/readymix-aggregate.html
and the webinar registration page at:

 .

2. New National Food Processing Compliance Assistance Center Available

The National Food Processing Environmental Assistance Center (FPEAC) is
now available to help food processors understand and comply with
environmental requirements. EPA sponsored the FPEAC and selected
Purdue University to develop and host the Center. Food processors now
have access to this all-encompassing source of environmental regulatory,
pollution prevention and sustainability information, available at your
computer when you need it. The Center contains federal and state
regulations and publications to help you address environmental issues
related to your food processing businesses. See http://www.fpeac.org.

3. Training on the "Auto Body Rule," Including Video Starring Jeff
Gordon

A new feature on the Collision Repair Campaign website is a 19 minute
training video starring NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon. See
www.epa.gov/collisionrepair/training.html. An estimated 60,000 auto
body repair shops must come into compliance with these new paint
stripping and surface coating requirements. Facilities must minimize
their emissions of methylene chloride, train employees, and do
notification and recordkeeping among other requirements. Find a summary
of the requirements on a downloadable brochure at
http://www.epa.gov/ttn/atw/area/paint_stripb.pdf. New facilities must
come into compliance with this rule within 180 days of startup.
Existing facilities have until January 11, 2010. Find out what you need
to do to comply and a contact person for each EPA region at EPA’s
Website for the Collision Repair Campaign at
http://www.epa.gov/collisionrepair/. You can find the rule language,
the brochure on requirements, and an archived training Webinar through
the links on the right side of the page.
