Salary
$43,202 to $55,162 Annually
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelors Degree and major course work in Environmental or Civil Engineering, Geology, the natural sciences, or a related field and three years of environmental experience.
Must be able to perform job related tasks, which would include but not be limited to: climing, walking over uneven ground, lifting up to 50 pounds, exposure to dust and fumes, and occasional exposure to adverse weather.
Preferences
Environmental background and enforcement experience.
Completion of OSHA Hazardous Materials training (40-hour course) a plus but not required.
Multi-media environmental inspection/compliance and enforcement experience a plus.
Representative Duties
*Conducts complex inspections, investigations, and permitting issues.
*Coordinate activities with outside agencies to provide for comprehensive enforcement and/or permitting in cases involving multiple jurisdictions.
*Train new staff in proper procedures and techniques.
*Assist less experienced staff with permitting and enforcement issues.
*Meet with visitors to resolve non-compliance conditions on a voluntary basis.
*Prepares administrative consent agreements; monitors the activities of violators to ensure compliance with terms of consent agreements.
*Participate in the preparation of noncompliance cases to be presented to the Code Enforcement Special Magistrate, Environmental Protection Commission, and/or County Attorney's Office.
*Participate in studies, surveys, and specialized research.
*Analyze environmental data for violations and significant trends.
*Investigate complaints and perform fieldwork as needed.
*Attend public meeting and provide public assistance.
*Perform other related duties as assigned.
*Able to obtain certification as a Code Enforcement Officer within 12 months.
*Performs a variety of environmental related inspections including solid waste, wastewater, hazardous waste, wetlands, storage tanks and others related to environmental impacts.
*Responds to complaints.
