We are forwarding this message from EPA OSWER regarding the upcoming March 3, 2011 1:30 -3:00 pm eastern Sustainable Materials Management Webinar. Registration for the webinar as well as the EPA point of contact for the webinar is included in the announcement below.
Subject Line: Open Door Webinar with OSWER's AA Mathy Stanislaus to Discuss Sustainable Materials Management Implementation
As part of the Administrator's dedication to communicate more frequently with states, we are initiating a series of webinar-based conversations with Mathy Stanislaus (Assistant Administrator for the Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response) in the hopes of maintaining an open dialog with our state partners. We intend to hold at least two webinars like this every year on different topics.
On Thursday, March 3 from 1:30-3:00 EDT, EPA's Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response (OSWER) invites you to attend our Second Open Door Webinar to discuss Sustainable Materials Management. The panel, consisting of Mathy Stanislaus and Peggy Harris, California Department of Toxic Substances Control and past President of ASTSWMO, will inform states about recent developments with Sustainable Materials Management and to address any questions or comments you may have. There will also be time allotted for open questions from the audience.

On January 27th, Mathy Stanislaus (OSWER Assistant Administrator), Bob Perciacepe (EPA Deputy Administrator), Regional Administrators, and representatives from states and various EPA offices attended the Sustainable Materials Management Summit. These senior leaders met to identify specific national approaches for operationalizing sustainable materials management, identify what changes may be needed in how EPA currently does business in order to make the shift to sustainable materials management, and determine some key next steps to help EPA achieve national goals. As follow-up to the summit, Headquarters-Regional workgroups were charged with defining specific actions that EPA can take to produce measureable results in the next year. Specific sustainable materials management efforts will be coordinated with other Agency-wide sustainability efforts such as sustainable products and pollution prevention. This webinar provides an opportunity for EPA and the states to discuss the next steps on sustainable materials management.
