As you may know, DEA, in cooperation with law enforcement agencies, holds a national drug takeback day a couple of times a year. There will be many law enforcement agencies around the state that will be holding a medication collection event on April 27. I found 9 sites within 100 miles of Tallahassee, 100 sites within 100 miles of Orlando and 51 within 100 miles of Ft. Lauderdale.

DEP is tweeting the event on 4/10, 4/17, 4/22, 4/26 and 4/27. Here are the planned tweets:

4/10: "Nat'l Drug Take-Back Day is 4/27 Follow the link to locate collection center to dispose of unwanted meds safely! http://ht.ly/jVuHl"

4/17: "Many counties don't have pharmaceutical disposal progs. Dispose of unwanted meds safely on Nat'l Take-Back Day 4/27 http://ht.ly/jVuHl"

4/22: "Nat'l Take Back Day, 4/27 is a great opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted meds. Find a collection site near you http://ht.ly/jVuHl"

4/26: Don’t forget tomorrow is Nat'l Take Back Day! Find a collection site near you to dispose of unwanted medicines safely http://ht.ly/jVuHl"

4/27: TODAY is Nat'l Take Back Day! Get rid of unwanted pharmaceuticals safely by stopping by a collection site near you. http://ht.ly/jVuHl"

Please help publicize this event by retweeting and asking other professional colleagues, work groups and friends to do the same. Or, if your county wants, Tweet the event on your own Twitter locations. Retweet and/or tweet on all 5 days (4/10, 4/17, 4/22, 4/26 and 4/27) if you can. Find DEP on Twitter at Florida DEP News ‏@FLDEPNews .

Thanks for all you do out there, Jack
