Subject: EPA Releases Updated Set of Frequently Asked Questions on Regulation of Cathode Ray Tubes (CRTs)
Forwarding this message to the RIN on behalf of Jim O'Leary---
The EPA's Office of Resource Conservation and Recovery is pleased to announce the release of an updated set of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on the existing cathode ray tube (CRT) regulation. This set of FAQs includes both new and updated questions that have been added to the original set of CRT FAQs that were released April 2013.
As some of you may remember, we published our first set of CRT FAQs to assist entities that collect, manage, and recycle used CRTs and CRT glass with understanding the federal regulations that apply to these materials. Since then, we have received positive response on the FAQs and have received several requests to add additional questions and responses. Consequently, you will now find FAQs on:
(1) What RCRA requirements apply to CRT panel glass (which generally does not fail TCLP), and
(2) What it means for a person to "show that the material is potentially recyclable and has a feasible means of being recycled" under the speculative accumulation provision.
All of the FAQs related to the CRT regulation can be found on the EPA website at http://www.epa.gov/osw/hazard/recycling/electron/crt-faq.htm and are also attached to this email. Please help us distribute these FAQs as widely as possible.
Any questions or concerns on the CRT regulation should be directed to Tracy Atagi at Atagi.tracy at epa.gov<mailto:Atagi.tracy at epa.gov>. For any other electronics recycling related issues or concerns please contact Karen Pollard at pollard.karen at epa.gov<mailto:pollard.karen at epa.gov>.
