Call for Presentations
North American Hazardous Materials Management Association
2018 Florida Chapter Workshop
May 21-24, 2018, Hyatt Regency, Bonita Springs


NAHMMA is an established group of hazardous materials management professionals whose purpose is to advance education, foster communication, encourage policy development, recognize exemplary programs and provide professional development opportunities. We are dedicated to pollution prevention and reducing the toxicity of municipal waste streams. This 2018 Florida Workshop Conference is hosted by Lee County.



APPLICATION PROCESS:

*         Complete the attached form and submit by March 1, 2018 to Catherine Eichner at ceichner at pinellascounty.org<mailto:ceichner at pinellascounty.org>.

*         Applications will be evaluated by NAHMMA's Training Committee.

*         You will receive a notice of acceptance or non-acceptance.

PRESENTATION GUIDELINES:

*         Presentation Formats: Typically lectures with Q&A; however, feel free to submit proposals for alternative formats, such as team teaching, panel discussions, workshops and/or interactive sessions.

*         At a minimum presentations should be 20 to 25 minutes followed by 5 to 10 minutes of Q&A. Each breakout session will be generally allotted 60-90 minute slots.

*         Proposals constituting sales pitches for products or services will not be considered.

*         Presentation equipment (laptop and projector) will be provided by NAHMMA.

*         If your presentation requires special software, internet connection, PowerPoint capability or a special presentation format (lecture, panel, audience participation, etc.), please indicate this on your abstract form.

HHW Track

*         Call2Recycle required training

*         HHW Collaborative Agencies: Engaging other agencies to be partners in HHW advertising, collection and benefits: there are more reasons than solid waste reduction (Bob Fletcher)

*         HHW Marketing: effective education, communication and outreach (Panel with Richard Lobinske)

*         Regulations that Pertain to HHWs (ex., DOT, CERCLA) (Andrea)

*         Maximizing HHW Program effectiveness: how to do more with less

SQG Track

*       Case Studies, ex.:

o   E-cigarettes - how the FDA rule changes have impacted the industry

o   Automotive Paint & Body Shops

*       Solvent-Contaminated Wipe management (panel led by Catherine)

*       Dry Cleaners: Perchloroethylene vs. petroleum

*       Pharmaceutical Waste Management: HHW and SQG

*       Civil vs. Criminal litigation

*       Illegal Dumping

*       New technologies in SQG Programs
*         New Generator Improvement Rule

*       Maximizing SQG Program effectiveness: how to do more with less

General

*         Succession planning for individuals, organizations and agencies (Bob Fletcher)
