back in after a busy week at the HHW/SQG Workshop in
Sarasota. Much was accomplished last week including:

Florida NAHMMA chapter<FONT color=navy><SPAN style="COLOR: navy"> (see attached

style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial"> * touring
Sarasota County and Charlotte County HHW facilities, <BR></SPAN><SPAN
style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial"> * discussing SQG
case studies and new HHW facility designs,<BR></SPAN><SPAN
style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial"> * receiving
updates on Used Oil, CESQG waste acceptance, P2, Operation Cleansweep,
Pretreatment Program, E-waste, Pharmaceuticals, School Labs,
and <BR></SPAN><SPAN
style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial"> * completing New
Inspectors, SQG and HHW Databases, HHW Unknowns, School Lab Cleanout, and
HAZWOPER training classes.</SPAN></P></DIV>

each of you were able to take home tips, information, and new contacts that will

thank you to Sarasota County for hosting this year's workshop. Lois Rose, Brian
Usher, Larry Cardinal, Oland Stokes, <FONT color=navy><SPAN
style="COLOR: navy">Alison Eggleston </SPAN></FONT>and Jerry Palmer worked
tirelessly to help choose the hotel, provide buses for the tours, hand-out free
laptop bags, work the registration desk, and organize great evening
activities (we loved the Hazardous Waste Olympics!). Other counties also
stepped up to the plate too. </SPAN></P></DIV>

<P class=MsoNormal><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial">Cari Walz
of Manatee County and Deb Bush of Pinellas County scooped ice
cream from the Pinellas County HHW mobile vehicle. Debbie Fore and the
Lake County crew provided water and soda from the back of
their HHW mobile vehicle. Al Gomez of Broward Co., Jim Reece of Okaloosa Co.,
Carmen Waters (lovely wife of Tom Waters, Seminole Co,), Edie Weigle of
Charlotte Co., and Catherine Eichner of Hillsborough Co. staffed the
registration table. Peter Mitchell of Manatee Co. organized the Eco-tour to
Myakka State Park. Andrea Stermer of Orange Co. and Tom Waters of Seminole Co.
presented and moderated many of the sessions and trainings. A big THANKS to all
these folks who helped on the workshop planning
committee!</SPAN></P></DIV>

HHW/SQG session, some attendees signed a petition to form a Florida
North American Hazardous Materials Management Association (<A
title=http://www.nahmma.org/ href="http://www.nahmma.org/">www.NAHMMA.org</A>)
Chapter. The new chapter could act as the
host for upcoming workshops, conduct
periodic trainings, participate in national and state
legislative initiatives, or whatever else its members would like to do. For more
information about this new chapter or to help plan our next
workshop, please join us on a conference call Tuesday, June 15, 9:30-11:00 am.

of Okaloosa County has graciously offered to co-host next year's workshop. Fort
Walton Beach is located in panhandle and has some of the most beautiful
beaches in Florida. Okaloosa County has one of the most extensive HHW
programs in the state providing HHW/CESQG collection services to 10
surrounding counties. Okaloosa County is also home Eglin Air Force base, the
largest air force base in the world, which will make a very
interesting SQG tour. </SPAN></P></DIV></DIV>
