All users are invited to join the new Enterprise Components mailing list =
at
http://lists.dep.state.fl.us/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/ent-comp
This list will be a central point in our development of Enterprise =
Components
for the J2EE applications.
We will be moving the jhs-common project into this new Enterprise =
Component
project over the next few days. As of today we have:
Mike Maheu working on a Date class that simplifies the use of the Java
Calendar class.
We also have the famous PhoneNumber class previously used as a code =
review
example.
An additional User, Address and Account classes may also be of use.
We have an Environment class that uses a PropertyLoader to load =
properties
for any application at startup. As long as the application.properties =
file
is located within the application classpath it can load the properties
directly.
Any projects having difficulties with log4j are invited to request =
assistance
from either Mike or myself. It turns out log4j has some interesting =
advanced
features such as sending emails and an additional tool, chainsaw, that =
will
receive the messages and display them in a nice GUI.
I am continuing to develop the ApplicationException classes.
Mike is also making good progress on the SSO server and example client =
which
we will preview next week.
Of course we always want to hear about new suggestions for additional
Enterprise Components. =20
