Thanks for pointing that out Charlotte.  That article actually has many
inaccuracies - including the statement that the Obama Administration
stopped the hospital survey started by the Bush Administration and is
doing nothing.
 
The Obama Administration stopped the hospital survey, because that
information is pretty well known and spending more time on it was a
waste of time.  Instead, as Charlotte explains below, the EPA has now
moved to the next step - data collection for its effluent guidelines
program.

Please  note two inaccuracies regarding EPA*s efforts both at the
Office of Water and regarding the Universal Waste Rule. The Federal
Register notice regarding effluent guideliens is open for comment as
Allen Gilliam has pointed out which will result in possible additional
guidelines later this year. The proposal to add hazardous pharmaceutical
waste to the universal waste rule will not result in drugs being
inappropriately disposed, as stated in the article.  Best regards,
