... More recently, the company [CVS] has taken steps to address the epidemic of opioid abuse. It has expanded access to Naloxone, a drug that can reverse the effects of overdoses, increased training and education programs, and supported local addiction and recovery centers through community grants. Working closely with local police departments and with its in-store drug take-back program, "We've removed over one million pounds of unused prescriptions," though that includes other drugs than opioids. CVS also limits first-time opioid prescriptions to a 7-day supply, which he said has sharply curtailed opioid usage.
