[FRC] EPA Region 4 ISWM - Tools 2 and 3

Good Morning,

EPA has been working on an Integrated Solid Waste Management tool for local governments.  I believe this tool may be of some value to many of you.  EPA is asking for assistance in review of the tool and to provide comments.  Please see email below and attached spreadsheets.  If you would like to provide input, please send me your comments before February 10th and I will get them to EPA.

As you know, we have been working for several months since the stakeholder meetings during the summer to develop tools to assist our southeastern local governments in the management and improvement of their solid waste/recycling efforts. The attachments reflect the current state of that development effort.

If you are one of the direct addressees, you were one of the primary ISWM contacts for your state, or you participated in the ISWM tool focus group. We really need your review comments on the attached by February 10, the end of the week following the States-EPA meeting held in Chattanooga January 31 - February 2.

If you are in the CC list, you have been involved in many of the ISWM discussions as well as our continuing efforts toward Sustainable Materials Management, and we value your continued participation, input and guidance. Please do examine the attachments, and circulate within your solid waste and materials management staff if not included in this transmittal.

The first spreadsheet allows for somewhat limited inputs, and from those inputs and the algorithms and calculations within the spreadsheet provide useful information in evaluating impacts regarding the implementation of

a residential single stream collection
a residential dual stream collection
transitioning to single stream residential curbside (bins to carts)
a drop-off program
a hub and spoke system
