GIS Users,
We are running into some sizing issues on our current file-based imagery
server, EPIC80. We cannot place all of the 1999 DOQs in JPEG and MrSID
format on the box until we have more space. We could make that space
available by . . .
1. getting a new server
2. removing the LandSat TM images from the current server
The first option is obviously more expensive. Also, even if a new =
server is
obtained, it would probably take a few months to get it spec'd, ordered, =
set
up, and operational. The second option is attractive from the =
standpoint
that it can be done soon and with little or no fiscal cost. =
Conventional
wisdom would suggest that most of you find recent DOQs more useful or
important than the TM images and we do not get much feedback that would =
lead
us to believe that the TMs are being used. However, we would not want =
to be
too presumptuous. If you find the TM images (available through =
ImageTools
and served from EPIC80) are important to your work, please let me know =
which
years you care about and how you use them. If there is enough demand, =
we may
only remove a couple of the years, and/or move them to a different box
(possibly making access a bit slower or more cumbersome).
Thank you,
